- Hello Kyle, tell us a little about your baseball background!

”My playing career consisted of playing for Ajax Spartans growing up until 10th grade (15 years old). During my time there we won 2 Ontario baseball championships. In 11th and 12th grade I played elite baseball for team Ontario. We would travel all over the USA and play in tournaments. This team was comprised with some of the top players in the province, some of them getting drafted into the Major Leagues of Baseball.

My college career consisted of 2 years at Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York, and 1 year at University of Rio Grande, Ohio. My first year after Genesee during the summer I played Junior baseball for Pickering Red Sox. We won the Ontario Championships and went to Nationals where we placed 3rd.

From an instructional perspective, I have been working at a baseball academy in Ajax called Butler Baseball Academy since January of 2016. This Academy is owned by two former MLB players, Rob Butler and Rich Butler. I have learned so much from them in regards to instruction. Their ability to identify strengths and weaknesses in individual players and implement the correct drills and activities to assist them in progressing as a more well rounded baseball player is tremendous. I have worked with people of all ages, but mostly between the ages of 5-18 both individually, in small groups as well as in larger groups with a wide range of skills and abilities. The lessons include hitting, fielding and pitching.”

- Ok great, now you have been with the Mosquitoes for a while, what are your thoughts about coaching here in Sundsvall?

”My vision for Sundsvall baseball is for the players to progress every day they come to the field, both individually and as a team. Structure, commitment and consistency are values I would like to implement throughout the organization. I have noticed so far during my time here that the players have a passion for baseball and will do what it takes to improve. This kind of attitude is what will drive us, as an organization, to accomplish our short and long term goals.”

- Thanks for the interview Kyle, and good luck with the upcoming season!
